The Mighty Hunter

We had a great first week of summer at the lake!  Clint and I went up with Kori to help her move in and get settled.  She is working at LaBeau's for the summer.  Her roomie, Sierra wasn't able to come up until later in the week, so we kept Kori company for a few days.  Clint and I had fun biking, playing at the park, playing games, practicing his driving and doing a lot of relaxing!  It was just beautiful up there and quiet!  Clint enjoyed carp hunting every morning and every evening out in the shallows.  He managed to free the lake of one carp.  He was pretty excited about it!  He got some attention from the neighbors too, wondering what he was doing.  Good job Clint!

Girl Weekend

...plus Wes!  Amy and I had planned to take her girls up to the cabin last weekend because the boys were all supposed to be at Fathers and Sons.  The Fathers and Sons overnighter ended up being cancelled due to rain (wimpy boys), but we girls still wanted to go!  Wes came too to get some work done, but he pretty much did his own thing while the female silliness ensued.  We went out to eat and watched a movie Friday night.  Saturday we played a lot of games, went to the park, and generally got goofy.  Lots of fun, can't wait until June when we have a bigger and better Girl Weekend planned!!

Let's Cruise!

Wes surprised us the other night with a new beach bike!  I like to think it was a late extra Mother's Day gift, but I will gladly share it with Kori!!  We love it so much!  It even has a little bell, and I'm going to pick out a basket for it.  We're totally ready to cruise around Bear Lake!

Initiation By Kori

Last weekend, Kori spent her first night at the cabin.  In true Kori fashion, she gave our new cabin her own kind of initiation!  Right after she got there, she went out for a run down to the marina.  When she got back, she walked into the living room to talk to me.  Standing next to the couch, she let her water bottle drop down.  She didn't realize the cap wasn't on, and water gushed all over the couch and floor!  We just laughed and laughed.  We know Kori has been there now!!

The Inaugural Sleepover

It was a weekend of firsts as we finally spent the night at our new house!  We've been working hard getting it ready and moving things in.  The cabin has had a few issues like broken pipes, heater problems and a leaky water heater, but things are coming along.  Friday night after we had been working and after the sun went down, Wes took me outside to see this!

It's our house!  And it looks like someone loves it.  I had too much fun documenting everything!
Here's Wes in the messy kitchen where we loaded stuff in.

Yay!  Actual furniture in the living room!

And yes, the couches are comfy!

This is my Grandmothers Quilt.  One of my grandmas pieced it, the other one quilted it.  I  love it so much, and I've wanted to use it for a long time.  The detail is simply amazing!  It is such a treasure to have.

First game of Uno after eating the first meal in the cabin!

Our first morning.  Karlton brought us the cute sign from California.

Wes likes his new adirondack chair.

The morning view from our front yard.

This is how the boat ramp looked.  Very muddy!

Welcome!

This was my goal on Saturday - get rid of the ugly Mexican kitchen wallpaper!

Going, going,...

... Gone!  Please tell me this looks so much better!

Karlton joined us on Saturday.  They were a big help, and they enjoyed a 4 wheeler ride.

Cute bathroom!
Wes worked on patching holes the plumber left when he fixed our pipes.

Pillow shams, check.  I am still working on quilts, they are coming slowly!

We decided we had more room here so we got one more bunkbed.  Eventually it will have mattresses as well.  Five beds in one room!  Think of the grandkids we can pack in here someday!!  :)

Other cute bathroom.

My other goal was to put the kitchen together.  We don't have everything we need yet, but we have enough to get us started.  We can actually cook next time.  And hopefully we'll have warm water!!

Tiffany

A couple of weeks ago, Wes made a purchase for the Bear Lake house.  We've thought that it would be nice to have a golf cart to haul kids and stuff down to the beach, and Wes has been looking for one.  Believe it or not, this is a golf cart!  The guy we bought it from was trying to convert it into a hunting vehicle.  He added some big tires, a gas motor, and redesigned the body.  But ultimately, he decided a golf cart is just not  practical in the mountains.  So he decided to sell it.  Our gain!  A golf cart if perfect for the beach!  She needs a little work and a paint job, and Wes told me we could paint it any color I wanted.  When I suggested turquoise like the water, Kori said "and we could call her Tiffany for Tiffany blue!"  So the name Tiffany stuck.  Clint didn't like the name.  At. All.  He still doesn't think Tiffany is a fitting name for a tough, souped up golf cart.  But alas, she's Tiffany.  Tough Tiffany!  Here she is the night we brought her home.

Finally.

It's all ours!  We closed on it yesterday!!  So we now own both the lot and the cabin.  I guess we'll use the cabin for now and hang on to the lot.  Who knows how it will all play out in the future!  It's been a crazy and intense and very interesting process just getting this far.  I'm glad that part is over.  Now we can just work on filling it up with memories!!
