The Season Begins

It was definitely a little more lively in Garden City over the Memorial Day weekend.  It was still a bit cool, but the sun was shining and the weather was very pretty and pleasant.  Wes and I enjoyed a Rhonda ride, and a walk on the beach.  I went home to join the Nash Memorial Day festivities, but Wes hung around and had a nice motorcycle ride on Monday.

On Saturday, we got a huge surprise in the form of Kori's Mission Call!  Belem, Brazil Sept 20th!!  It was really different listening to her call over Face Time, how grateful we are for modern technology!  She is over the moon excited to learn Portuguese and serve in Brazil.  We are pretty excited to spend the summer with her getting all ready!  Congrats Kori, you will be such a fantastic missionary!!

1871 Photos

Our quest this week was to find the locations of some old timey Bear Lake photos from 1871 that Wes came across.  We were successful.  Wes is amazing, he could tell from the old photos right where to go.  And of course, he was right!  One location was close to Rendezvous Beach.  This one was fun because it's a rocky, undeveloped area that didn't look all that different from the old pics.  The other locations were up by Fish Haven, close to the Idaho border.  These places looked way different because the hills there are covered with houses.  We had a hard time even getting close enough to get a good photo.  We might have to find those from the beach side in the boat this summer.  But we had a fun time!  It was a chilly weekend, but sunny and beautiful.  A lot of our neighbors were there.  Summer is coming!

Anniversary Getaway

Congrats to us on 27 years of wedded bliss!  We enjoyed a weekend getaway just before our anniversary.  We enjoyed beautiful sunshine, even though it was chilly.  The ice has all melted off the lake and it was peaceful and lovely on our walk along the beach.  We also went out to dinner to celebrate, and watched a lot of LOST!  Happy Anniversary, best friend!

Frozen Lake

This may have been our last day to ski out onto the beach. The marshes were a bit spotty and we've lost a lot of snow at the house, but we had a beautiful morning skiing right out onto the frozen lake.  The ice fishermen said the ice was about 8 inches thick.  It will be interesting to watch how quickly the lake will thaw.
